Bergamot oil has been used for centuries in perfumes and confections. It is extracted from the almost ripe peel of the fruit. The aroma is a fresh and clean complex citrus that is tangy green with a slightly floral and spicy odor.
It helps promote clarity in the workplace and can calm agitated children. It helps reduce melancholy and sluggishness. Try sprinkling a few drops of Bergamot with Lemongrass in a moody teenagers’ room about 30 minutes before you want them to rise.. it’ll be a different day for you and for them!
Safety Considerations for Bergamot Essential Oil
Though it is generally non-toxic and non-irritating, bergamot is extremely phototoxic. Avoid exposing skin to tanning beds/UV/sunlight rays for 12 hours after application. Use oils with children only with extreme awareness.
THIS IS A PHOTO-SENSITIVE OIL. Use extreme caution on the skin and when in the sun.
How to Use Bergamot Essential Oil
A fantastic oil to diffuse and blend with lots of options. Start with Lavender or Frankincense, serrata.. just wonderful!
Bergamot gives Earl Grey tea its distinctive flavor and aroma but this is a case where “less is MORE”.. only a drop in a full teapot! (serving 3-4) and even that may be strong…
