Fir Needle: This exquisite organic oil is from the private collection of Horst, founder of Aveda and Intelligent Nutrients. The firs have the typical scent that we associate with evergreen forests and Christmas trees. The fresh-herbaceous-coniferous oil can be used in a diffuser to cleanse the air. This oil is beneficial in detoxing the body, aids in improving respiratory conditions, helps to speed up the metabolism, relieves pain and relaxes aching muscles, stimulates the immune system and helps prevent infection, and is also beneficial in eliminating bad body odor.

Laurel Nobilis: This organic oil is being offered as a special gift from the Private Collection of Horst, Founder of Aveda and Intelligent Nutrients. It has a soft spicy smell and is distilled from the leaves of the laurel tree.  The myth of the laurel tree is that Daphne escaped Apollo’s attention by being transformed into the laurel tree. Apollo used the bay laurel tree as his emblem since he could not have Daphne as his wife. The laurel leaf was often used in making crowns for both Greeks and Romans as a symbol of victory.  It has been used to improve respiratory conditions, aid in digestion, and to ease aches and pains. A few drops in a warm bath is a great soak for an aching body.

Eucalyptus, Globulus: The aroma is fresh, penetrating, woody, and camphoraceous. The properties of this oil are: analgesic, antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-neuralgic, anti-rheumatic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, antiviral, decongestant, deodorant, depurative, diuretic, expectorant, febrifuge, stimulant, vermifuge, and vulnerary. One very important reason why many individuals use eucalyptus oil is its ability to address mental exhaustion through creating a cooling and refreshing effect. As a stimulant, it helps eradicate exhaustion and mental sluggishness, and rejuvenates “the spirits of the sick.”

Cedarwood (Himalayan): The health benefits of Cedarwood Essential Oil can be attributed to its properties as an antiseborrhoeic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, tonic, astringent, diuretic, emenagogue, expectorant, insecticidal, sedative and fungicidal substance. The oil’s antifungal properties heal athlete’s foot and psoriasis dermatitis. Inhaling Cedarwood breaks up phlegm and mucus.

Cinnamon, Leaf: The aroma is flat, warm and earthy spice. Cinnamon leaf oil is used for both culinary and medicinal purposes. The leaf oil has a higher eugenol content than the bark oil. This increases its analgesic properties. The properties are analgesic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, ant-spasmodic, carminative, insecticide, stimulant, and stomachic. Cinnamon is one of the most recognized scents in the world and has been used since antiquity. May cause skin irritation.  Not for Ingesting.

Clove: Clove has a sweet spicy fragrance. It has immune enhancing properties. The principal constituent is eugenol that is used to numb the gums and relieve toothaches. It is one of the highest scoring ingredients for its antioxidant properties. Traditional Chinese Medicine used clove for digestive and respiratory support. It is widely used as a flavoring agent in soaps and in perfumes.

Lemon: Lemon has a strong citrus smell that is refreshing and revitalizing. The properties of lemon are stimulating, calming, antiseptic, anti-fungal, and detoxifying. While lemon adds a pleasant taste and aroma, it aids in digestion and stomach problems. The detoxifying and astringent nature rejuvenates sagging or tired looking skin. Inhaling lemon oil increases concentration and alertness. The high vitamin content gives a boost to the immune system. It can also be used in cleaners, perfumes, soaps, and beverages. It replaces negative emotions by creating a cheerful atmosphere of freshness and purity.
The aroma of lemon can inspire increased concentration and awareness. A Japanese study showed that after diffusing lemon oil throughout a busy office building, typing errors decreased by 54%. Lemon and Peppermint oils are also used in German office spaces to increase efficiency and productivity.

Pine, Scotch: This organic pine essential oil’s appealing fragrance is deeper, warmer, and more resinous than other pine oils. It is distilled from the needles and twigs of the tree. Pine oil is invaluable in cleaning, purifying, stimulating, and refreshing both ourselves and our homes. Pine oil can clear the air and release negative emotions. Pine oil can be used topically, as a compress, inhaled or diffused. Keep pine diffusing to promote winter wellness. Pine essential oil will ground the body and relieve anxiety and stress by aligning the root, sacral, throat, and third eye chakras. It will bring introspection for self and community.

Wintergreen: Wintergreen oil is said to have analgesic, antirheumatic and antiarthritic, antispasmodic, antiseptic, aromatic, and astringent properties. It also acts as a carminative, diuretic, and emenagogue.  Wintergreen Essential Oil contains 85-99% of methyl salicylate the same active ingredient as birch and is beneficial in massage for soothing head tension and muscles after exercising. Native Americans chewed wintergreen when running long distances to increase endurance and respiratory capacity. It is mentally stimulating and increases attentiveness. The sweet minty odor is its signature.  It is interesting that this plant associates with many of our senses: smell, taste, touch and hearing (sound).  Wintergreen essential oil can penetrate deep within the body it can increase the vibration of the body and enhancing sound on all levels. The odor alone is said to do this.

Frankincense, Carteri "Heart Note": Frankincense “Heart Note” is a viscous golden/amber colored liquid displaying a rich, sweet, fruity, resinous bouquet with a delicate balsamic, precious woods undertone of fine tenacity.  The coniferous/terpernic topnotes generally associated with steam distilled frankincense are eliminated by the special low heat, high vacuum molecular distillation process capturing the very core of the frankincense resin aroma.

Myrrh: Myrrh helps us maintain healthy glowing skin. It is good for dry and chapped skin, mature skin, wounds, burns and bruises. It can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles when used in a facial oil as it is toning and protective for the skin. Myrrh essential oil protects the skin especially in dry or cold environments. Myrrh is effective at promoting cellular regeneration and promotes radiant, healthy complexion. Myrrh helps heal and clean cuts and open wounds. It can be applied directly into the cut and it helps close the wound, slows bleeding, disinfects, reduces swelling and numbs the pain. With serious injuries please seek a medical professional. Myrrh is great for healing gingivitis, mouth ulcers, candida, sore throat, and is used in toothpaste and mouthwash. It is also a mild expectorant and gently opens the lungs and clears out excess mucus.
