Oregano essential oil is reminiscent of delicious Mediterranean culinary delights with its spicy herbal scent. The essential oil is potent, spicy, earthy, hot and herbaceous. It is a strong antiseptic killing bacteria, mold, virus and fungi. This essential oil is filled with fire and is best used highly diluted or else it may cause irritation. It should be used at a maximum of 2% dilution which is less than 10 drops per ounce. This oil is considered too powerful for use in pregnancy, with children, the elderly or with people who have liver illness, toxicity or damage.
BE Aware! Marjoram or thyme are sometimes sold as oregano! Make sure that you verify the plant genus and species. Oregano's genus and species is "Origanum vulgare" - Veriditas has a very potent oregano oil. It contains 67% carvacrol, the active constituent in Oregano, and OF COURSE, it is organic.
Oregano Can be used in a compress (with other oils such as lavender and tea tree to dilute it) and can be used as a flavoring agent highly diluted as mentioned in a medicinal honey or a yummy olive oil below:)
Oregano should NOT BE USED IN A bath, diffuser, nebulizer, or perfumes.
Oregano essential oil is extremely effective at fighting germs, yeast, mold, virus and bacteria. Studies have shown that it can even kill MRSA upon direct contact. In one study Oregano essential oil killed every bacteria and virus when applied directly to the culture this is known as ‘in vitro’ application. Oregano and many other essential oils contain powerful compounds produced by the plants' immune system, which can kill resistant bacteria, this has become an area of medical investigation for disease control and prevention. Because essential oils come from plants and contain a complex array of chemicals which vary plant to plant and season to season bacteria cannot develop resistance because the formula is always changing. Thyme, Palmarosa, Basil, Tea Tree, Cinnamon Bark, Clove, Lemon and many other essential oils have this powerful antimicrobial activity and are all great alternatives to Oregano.
In cooking Oregano essential oil adds and herbal and spicy seasoning, it should be used highly diluted as a flavoring in honey or olive oil. One can use 1-2 drops Oregano essential oil in ¼ to ½ cup honey or in 8 ounces olive oil to add a health enhancing flavor to foods. Even at a .01% dilution which means that there is almost no detectable amount of Oregano essential oil it still has powerful results similar to those seen with Oregano leaf tea; this is truly amazing! What we suggest is you use oregano "to taste". When it is strong enough for you - stop adding drops:) The way our grandma's used to cook.

Toenail fungus is not an uncommon problem. Unfortunately, this condition can be difficult to treat since internal antifungals cannot reach the root of the problem. Toenails are relatively set apart from the body's blood supply which means that internal medicines are not very effective in reaching the affected area. This means that a person with toenail fungus will need to be very diligent regarding the application of topical treatments.
How to Use Oregano Oil for Toenail Fungus
Oregano oil is derived from the herb, oregano. This oil contains a concentrated version of oregano's fungicidal properties and can be very effective at combating fungal infections. Unfortunately, oregano oil is extremely powerful and it can act as a skin irritant. This means that you will not want to apply the undiluted oil of oregano directly to your skin unless you are willing to cope with redness and burning - the skin's usual response to such an invasive substance.
You don't want to dilute essential oils in water. Instead, these oils are best diluted in a carrier oil. Popular carrier oils are jojoba and olive oil. Jojoba oil is a very healing substance that can almost mimic the consistency and properties of the skin's natural sebum. However, jojoba oil is more expensive than olive oil, and both are good choices. So, if you are on a budget, using olive oil as your carrier method is the more economic option.
Try diluting two or three drops of the oregano essential oil in about a teaspoon's worth of olive oil. Rub this mixture over the infected toe and try to keep the toe exposed to as much fresh air as possible. Items such as socks and shoes can serve to trap moisture in the foot area and, unfortunately, fungi breeds easily in warm humid environments.
